Princeton Park Homes' family traditions of education, worship, camaraderie, hard work, and community beautification have been beautifully brushed onto canvas by renowned Chicago artist Melvin King. King's works, depicting African-American life and culture throughout the twentieth century, are internationally exhibited and can be found in the collections of Michael Jordan, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., Oprah Winfrey and many others.

The original 6' x 3' canvas was commissioned in 2001 by Preston A. Higgins & Company in recognition of the longstanding positive relationship between the founding management and the early residents in the 1940's through today's residents and management, which has been the backbone of the longevity and prosperity of our community. The canvas will become a permanent part of the Chicago State University Collection.

We have always believed that "A safe, wholesome home environment goes hand-in-hand with a good learning environment." One measure of the success of our community is the path that thousands of youngsters raised in Princeton Park have taken to establish themselves in productive adult lives. For most of them, footprints of education and hard work have helped blaze this path. We are very proud of our renowned past residents, such as the late Illinois' poet laureate Gwendolyn Brooks, Lerone Bennett (author - Before the Mayflower), Fred Sengestacke (Chicago Daily Defender), and now deceased Danitra Vance (NBC-TV's Saturday Night Live). To the many other entrepreneurs, artists, professionals and distinguished civil servants, who have lived in and those who continue to live in Princeton Park, we express our profound congratulations! As part of this celebration of our great community traditions, we have decided to make a permanent commitment to the higher education of our youngsters.

We invite you to join us in our effort to support continued education in our community by buying one of these prints now on sale at our office. The proceeds from your purchase will go directly to the endowment for Princeton Park Homes' students, at Chicago State University. To order, or to make a contribution, bring or send the following form to our rental office, located at 9119 S. Stewart Avenue, Chicago, IL. 60620.
